On a recent engagement photo shoot, Angela and Clint wanted both a park like setting and an urban feel. We chose City Park in Denver with the pond, boathouse and great downtown Denver views from the golf course. I always prefer late afternoon to twilight when scheduling engagement sessions. What we didnt count on was some passing thunderstorms and their winds. We managed to stay dry but the wind was a bit of a nuisance. However towards the end of the 400-plus image shoot the wind and the light came together for what I thought was the best pictures of the shoot.
Engagement photo sessions are a great way for couples to have fun, get relaxed in front of the camera and get professional quality pictures before their wedding day.
An engagement session that can last for two hours helps to build a relationship and lets the couple get comfortable with being in front of the camera. When couples are relaxed and interacting with each other, the camera stops being the focus and the result are natural images.
One of the best ways to loosen up in front of the camera is by forgetting its even there. As a Denver wedding photographer, I talk to the bride and groom and keep them focused on things other than being photographed while being photographed sounds confusing but I am just looking for ways to get couples to be themselves in front of the camera.
Its important than when couples begin to look for professional wedding photographers for your engagement photos find the engagement photographer you know will match your personality and who will really listen to your thoughts and ideas.
Once you find the Denver wedding photographer that best suites your style, discuss some ideas on how to make your engagement pictures fun, creative and memorable. Couples should communicate how they want the final overall look and feel of the photos to be. This is going to be different for every couple, but it’s definitely a decision that you need to make before you can begin to think about anything else. Also, you don’t need to have one set theme for the engagement session.
With a little thought and imagination a routine photo shoot can become a cool piece of art. Its easy to do the research and find a location and a theme that just might be right for you. Find the Colorado professional wedding photographer that will work with you and help you create your concept and you are on your way.
